Shout Out Friday: Alex’s Journey to Firefighter through Strength training at campbelltown

Today, we’re highlighting Alex Menon, a client whose determination and consistency are setting him up for a future as a firefighter.
Starting Point: A Big Dream, a Humble Beginning
When Alex first joined us, he had a clear goal: to qualify for the firefighter trials. But there was a challenge; he struggled to lift more than 15kg, and the physical demands of firefighting are no joke.
Instead of getting discouraged, Alex committed to the process. He showed up, ready to put in the work, and trusted the plan we built together. We developed a strength training plan at our campbelltown facility to enable him a systematic way to grow his strength, safely.

We started with a comprehensive assessment, identifying Alex’s strengths, weaknesses, and the specific requirements for firefighter testing. From there, we designed a program that focused on:
Progressive strength training: Building up from basic lifts to loaded lunges, squats, and functional movements that translate directly to firefighting tasks.
Structured nutrition: Increasing Alex’s protein intake and overall calories to support muscle growth and recovery.
Ongoing support and education: Teaching Alex not just what to do, but why it matters, so he could stay motivated and make smart choices outside the gym.
The Results: From 15kg Lifts to 15kg Lunges (Each Hand)
Alex’s progress speaks for itself:
He started unable to lift more than 15kg.
Now, he’s lunging with 15kg in each hand, a massive jump in strength, stability, and confidence.
He has gained healthy weight through improved nutrition, which supports his performance and muscle growth.
Most importantly, he’s feeling stronger, more capable, and ready to take on the firefighter trials.
